WASP TECLA, the first fully 3D printed construction based on natural materials and made with multiple 3D printers operating at the same time. A new circular model of housing entirely created with reusable and recyclable materials, sourced from local soil, carbon-neutral and adaptable to any climate and context. TECLA was designed to 3D print houses in the shortest period of time, and in the most sustainable way possible
With nearly 650 square feet of interior space, TECLA comprises a “living zone” with a sun-lit kitchen, and a “night zone” with a bedroom and bath. “The furnishings—partly printed with local earth and integrated into the raw-earth structure, and partly designed to be recycled or reused—reflect the philosophy of a circular house model”. Two ocular skylights invite ample natural light inside
Structural tests were carried out by Milan Ingegneria, a Milan-based engineering consultancy, which worked on the optimisation of the shape in order to create a self-supporting structure. The frames, customised and highly-efficient, have been engineered and produced by Capoferri, a company specialised in architectural frames and always at the forefront of technological advances
Humans have been using earth and clay to build houses for at least 10,000 years. We are using these ancient techniques along with modern technology to give birth to a new world in a sustainable manner
Using earth and clay as building material makes building homes extremely affordable. It is easy to mass produce them using this method, providing free housing for everyone is a realistic goal
We will initially use WASP TECLA technology to 3D print the infrastructure of the new earth. As we expand and increase profits we will use higher quality materials and will improve on the design. We will build houses, buildings, fences, bridges and anything else needed with 3D printing technology. We will also be using solar panels as a way to create sustainable power. The new earth project will be the most futuristic/advanced society earth has ever seen. We will give birth to a “solarpunk” type society. We will be the ones to usher in a golden age on earth
